For the final project in my Typography 1 class, my professor asked for each student to design a booklet featuring a play or screenplay. I chose one of my favorite movies, Cars. The task consisted of creating cover art, a title page, chapter title pages, and text hierarchy for the script itself. This was definitely an exercise in typesetting and patience.
Shown above is the front and back cover, and the title page of my book. I utilized the motif of the black and white checkers often seen at racetracks throughout the book. I chose the color red as an homage to Lightning McQueen himself.
This is a snapshot of the the inside of the book, featuring the first chapter title pages, and the first few pages of the script. Each chapter title page feature a different Cars character, highlighting the different aspects of the film. For the text, actions, dialogue, and names are all given different treatments in my hierarchy.
